Let your yes be yes and your no, no (Matthew 5:36-37).
Being your authentic self requires being honest with who you are on the inside. I can dress everything up on the outside, but it is worthless if my inside doesn’t match what others see. After all, I may fool people for a while, but I NEVER fool God. It’s like telling your child to clean their room and their solution is to push/pile everything into the closet – out of sight, out of mind. But the clutter is still there. `
Pleasing God must be my first priority. As I allow Him to refine (burn off) my rough edges, my character becomes stronger and my light shines a lot brighter. As my light shines brightly, others become curious and are drawn to HIM in me. May I always want to please HIM in every way, ensuring that in my lifestyle ‘yes,’ is ‘yes’ and no is no.
